This week’s #AAUP14 & other convos have me thinking a bit aphoristically about the role of the digital in intellectual change. To wit:
Network-based knowledge carries distinction less in its means of distribution \(imprimatur\) than in its mode of reception \(community\).

Still pondering the shifting nature of authority in digital knowledge production. What does it mean for scholarship per se?
Digital scholarship is becoming increasingly \(though not exclusively\) collaborative, process-oriented, iterative, and diffuse.
The digital is, or should be, everywhere in teaching. It demands our attention, not because it is unusual, but because it is not.
I left my apartment in Brooklyn almost 2.5 hours ago. I am now in the Holland Tunnel. It appears I am about to miss my first flight ever.
Flight is in 45 minutes. Still about 15 minutes away.
Got to the airport & was told I could fly, but my bag wouldn’t make it. Ran for it anyhow. Got to the gate in time to board!
This was only thanks to some very sweet people who let me cut in front of them at security.
Anyhow, they started boarding! And then stopped! For an hour! Because they have to check the life vests!
You can’t make this stuff up.
At least my bag should make it to the plane now.
