I’m continuing to work on the Peculiar Genres of Academic Writing syllabus, which I promise to share once it’s in shape. Today’s ask? Scholarly blogs! They need not be regularly updated, or super polished — what I’m mostly interested in is seeing a scholar work out ideas online.

Honestly, the thing that has changed this for me is having a programmable thermostat. I can make it as cool as I need overnight, and then have the heat kick on before I wake up, so that I can bear to get out of bed.

Planning my spring class on Peculiar Genres of Academic Writing has me reading through a lot of advice on academic writing, some obvious, some ridiculous, but some so mind-blowingly helpful that I wish I’d come across it COUGHCOUGH years ago when I was in grad school.

Yeah, we do this in DH all the time with 491/891 — it’s listed as two courses at the same time with the same instructor, with a “taught in conjunction with” note.

Earlier this month I had a surgical procedure. Nothing serious, just enough for me to be a bit laid up for a couple of days. The worst of it was being told that I couldn’t swim for two weeks.
