My institution publishes its federally negotiated rates. The vast majority of humanities grants \(and a lot of socsci as well\) falls under “other sponsored activities.” “Research” has a very empirically oriented definition.

Ha, good question. Where our office of sponsored programs is concerned, pretty much any NEH grant could qualify. Their standards are set on NIH, DOE, and NSF. But I have a *wonderful* pre-award admin who handles those negotiations brilliantly.
